Johnnie "John" C. Crotser, 85, of Saint Elmo, Illinois, formerly of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Aperion Care, St. Elmo, IL.
Per his wishes cremation rites were accorded. Private family services and burial will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL, with Pastor Tom Goodell, officiating. Memorials: First United Methodist Church-Operation Christmas Child/Emergency Response Team, 127 N. 4th., Vandalia, IL. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. He was born November 12, 1934, in Vandalia, IL, the son of Fred Gilbert & Josie (Carter) Crotser. Married Donna Ruth Murfin on August 20, 1960 at the First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, IL. John graduated from Vandalia High School in 1954 and served in the US Army 1954-56. He was retired from Crane Packing after 30 years and worked part-time at Miller Funeral Home for 15 years; U.S. Army Veteran; Member of First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, IL; Temperance Lodge #16, A.F.A.M. Vandalia, Knights of York Cross of Honor; American Legion Post #95; & Vandalia Country and Golf Club. John loved sports-participated in high school sports, Vandalia Merchants softball league. John enjoyed playing golf with Vandalia Country Club "Wobblies" and was a Lifelong Chicago Cubs Baseball fan.
He is survived by: Wife - Donna Crotser, Vandalia, IL; Daughter - Kristi Higgins & Kevin, Bloomington, IL; Grandchildren - Korey Higgins, Bloomington, IL and Kourtney Vaccaro & Chris, Naperville, IL; Great Grandchildren - Mila and Cayden Vaccaro; and Several Nephews & Nieces.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Infant Daughter -Jill Crotser; Brother - Freddie Crotser; and Sisters - Verna Hamilton and Mary Karr.
