Wendal H. Burrus, 88, of Herrick, Illinois, passed away Friday, February 7, 2020, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at Ramsey Christian Church, Ramsey, IL, with Pastor Larry Daniel, officiating. Burial will follow at Myers Cemetery, Herrick, IL. Visitation will be held at the Ramsey Christian Church from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Monday, February 10, 2020 and 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at the Church. Born December 24, 1931, in Herrick, IL, the son of Cyrus Ivan & Lucinda Harriet "Hattie" (VanAmberg) Burrus. Wendal married Betty A. Miller November 17, 1978 in Sherman, IL. He worked for the Nickel Plate Railroad for 17 years, starting at the age of 15, and retired from Firestone after 29 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, Korean War; Member of Ramsey Christian Church, Ramsey IL, Anderson-Scroggins Post 460 American Legion, Ramsey, IL and Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge # 979.
Survived by: Wife - Betty Burrus, Herrick, IL; Sons; Robin W. Burrus, Fillmore, IL, Jim Michael & Judy, Hoopeston, IL, Rick Michael, Oconee, IL, Lance Pritts & Julie, Boody, IL, Boyd Pritts, Mattoon, IL and Chris Pritts & Ashley, LeRoy, IL; Daughters - Lisa Abbott & Paul, Neoga, IL and Mitzi Howell & Ron, Herrick, IL; Sister - Flossie Marmon, Pickerington, OH; 17 Grandchildren; and 20 Great Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Son - Terry; Brothers - Frank, Terry & Marvin Burrus; and Sisters - Bernadine, Rosaline, Deloris & Glenda.
