Robert L. "Bob the Greeter" Porter

Robert "Bob the Greeter" L. Porter, 71, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL.

 

Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 A.M Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the Bethel Baptist Church, rural Vandalia, IL, with Dr. Ben Foxworth, officiating. Friends may gather 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the church prior to the service.  Memorials: To the Family. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. He was born August 29, 1948, in Highland, IL, the son of Samuel & Margaret (Kirchner) Porter. Married Claudia May Beckham on December 22, 1988 in Highland, IL. He was a retired Civil Service worker at Scott Airforce Base, formerly worked at Pulsar Plastics, Carlyle, IL and was known and loved by all as "Bob the Greeter" at Wal-Mart, Vandalia, IL. Bob was a U.S. Navy Veteran and member of Bethel Baptist Church, Vandalia, IL.

 

He is survived by: Wife - Claudia Porter, Vandalia, IL; Daughters - Jennifer Roadamer & Paul, Wood River, IL and Tiffany Raine Porter, Vandalia, IL; Grandchildren - Alexis, James, Adam, Kaleb and Finn; and Brother - Denis Porter, Vancouver, WA. 

 

Preceded in death by: Parents; and 1 Brother - William "Bill" Porter.
