Melvin C. Lockart, 92, of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021, at The Preserve, in Fort Myers, FL. 

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at South Hill/Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL with Pastor Michael Mohr officiating. Friends and family may gather at the cemetery at 1:00 PM. Military Rites will be given by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post #95 and Brownstown VFW Post #9770. Memorials: Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia, IL. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. He was born March 10, 1929, in Vandalia, IL, the son of Clarence Emil & Alice Leona (Matheny) Lockart. Married Clara Anna (Schoon) Lockart on December 24, 1950, Vandalia, IL, she passed away March 21, 2007. He was a lease operator - truck driver for Petrolum Transportation; Owner/Operator Lockart Trucking, Seymour, IL; US Army Veteran - Korean Conflict.; and a member of St. Michaels Lutheran Church, Ft. Myers, FL. 

He is survived by: Son - Kent Lockart & John Royce, Long Beach, CA; Daughter - Nancy Huddleston  & Charles Preston, Fort Myers, FL; Grandchildren - Jennifer Huddleston and Melinda Asselin & Joseph; Great Grandchildren - Marissa Spence & Zach and Katherine Morrison; Great Great Grandson - Clayton Michael Spence; and Nephews & Nieces - Art "Butch" Wilson, Diane Eckhart, Phyllis Eckhart and Marsha Eckhart.

 Preceded in death by: His Parents; Wife; 3 Sisters - Lela Eckhart; Ruth Wilson; and Infant-Edith Lockart.
