Max L. Pummill, 87, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at HSHS Fayette County Hospital, LTC, Vandalia, IL.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL with Pastor Joe Lawson officiating. Military Rites will be given by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post #95, Vandalia, IL and Brownstown VFW Post #9770. Friends and family may gather at the cemetery at 10:30 AM. He was born December 20, 1933, in Vandalia, IL, the son of Joseph Simon & Loca Lucille (Timmons) Pummill. Married Myrle Elizabeth Cravens on December 31, 1987, in Vandalia, IL, she passed away October 27, 2013. He worked at Crane Packing and was the dog catcher for Fayette County Animal Control; U.S. Army Veteran and former member of American Legion Post #95, Vandalia, IL. Max loved to hunt and was an avid coon hunter.
He is survived by: Sister – Sherry Chatham, Vandalia, IL; Special Nephews & Niece – Bryan Chatham and Cheryl Oertwig, both of Vandalia, IL, and Brent Chatham & Nancy, Loami, IL; and Several Great and Great Great Nephews & Nieces.
Preceded in death by: His Parents; Wife; and Sister – Joyce Cox.
