Jean Martina (Adermann) Reece

Jean Martina Reece, 87, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL.

In celebration of Jean’s life, a funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church in Vandalia, IL with Father Seth Brown officiating. Prior to the mass, a visitation for family will be held from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. and for the public from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Fayette County Cancer Fund. Jean was born at home on their family farm in Ramsey, IL, on May 13, 1935.  She was the daughter of Frederick Otto & Helen Alberta (Marty) Adermann. She married Ted Reece on March 1, 1968, in Brownstown, IL.  Over the years you could see her smiling and friendly face in the Wal-Mart pharmacy. where she worked as a pharmacy tech, and prior to that, at Hooks Drug Store. She was a member of Mother of Dolors Catholic Church and she loved to talk about her grand kids, watch Cardinals baseball and Illini basketball, and was always working on a word search puzzle book.

She is survived by: Son - Fred Burtschi, Vandalia, IL; Daughters - Liz Horath & Clyde, Strasburg, IL, J'Amy Payne & Bill, Springfield, IL, and Mary Alexander & Brian, Springfield, IL; 10 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; Brother - John Adermann, Vandalia, IL; Sister - Betty Meyer, Ramsey, IL.
