Elizabeth "Betty" McIntyre-Roe Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" E. McIntyre-Roe, 63, of Brownstown, Illinois, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital, Mount Vernon, IL.

Betty was born on 4/22/1958 to Marjory Ellen Winegarner McIntyre, and Robert Jay McIntyre in Vandalia, IL. After Betty graduated from Brownstown High School in 1976, she continued doing taxes, as that had been her job since she was 13 years old. Betty grew up in her parent’s tax accounting and bookkeeping office; she was balancing books while most kids her age were playing with toys. Betty with her husband Roger opened up Prairie View Accounting in 1977, where she specialized in Farm accounting and Farm and business taxes. Betty was a member of Independent Accountant Association of Illinois.

Betty had horses for the majority of her life; she always had a passion for beautiful horses and had several Morgans, Saddlebreds, and Golden American SaddleBreds, that won major awards all over the United States. Betty not only was the first female in the Brownstown FFA, but was the first female in the USA to win 1976 Central Regional Horse Proficiency in 1976 with her horse record keeping. Betty was an advocate for those who couldn’t speak up for themselves; she went to bat for her clients and friends.

Betty was an amazing cook, her homemade hot rolls and noodles were the absolute best! Betty loved to make cakes. They were always beautiful & delicious. She accomplished her life- long dream of catering and opened a restaurant. She cooked for many including famous people. She was brilliant, her ability to recall information, facts and figures was amazing. Betty also loved mushroom hunting.

Betty was loved by so many but that is because she had so much love to give. She and her husband Roger adored their children, and they were totally devoted to their grandchildren, and their fur babies, especially Harley. On July 23rd, 1977 she married the Love of her life Roger L Roe. They were married in a little Baptist church in Vandalia, IL. She and Roger lived at Vera IL for a few years, where Roger farmed with his dad, Elvin Roe. When Betty’s family farm in rural Brownstown became available they moved there and continued Prairie View Accounting.

Betty is survived by: Sons - Jason Roe & Mindy, Indianapolis, IN, Tyler Roe & Ashley and Braden Roe, all of Brownstown, IL; Daughter - Katelyn Satterlee & Clark, Greenville, IL; Grandchildren - Gabriel, Olivia, Sawyer, Abram and AJ; Sister - Jessie Maske & Hubert, Ramsey, IL; Nephew - Jarod Maske; and (Adopted into the family and Godparents to the grandchildren)- Bob & Millie Schroeder, Rural Shobonier, IL.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, her sister Bobbie McIntyre Lippse, her brother-in-law, Samuel Lippse; and her loving husband Roger.

A celebration of Life will be held this summer July 23rd, venue to be announced, so that everyone can attend, there will be a lot of great food, because “we never had a celebration without a lot of great food”.
