Edward Duane Taylor 88, of Vandalia, IL, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022, at 5:12 PM at Willowbrook Memory Care of Vandalia, IL

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 22, at the First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, IL with Pastor Tom Goodell officiating. Burial will follow at McInturff Cemetery, Hagerstown, IL. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church of Vandalia. Edward was born December 2, 1933 in Pleasant Mound, IL, the son of Forrest Edward and Lois Marie (Siebert) Taylor. He married Donna Belle Clymer, daughter of Eugene and Opal Clymer, on June 19, 1954. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, IL where he served in many capacities.

Mr. Taylor was president of the Vandalia Community School District school board in the 1970s and was a long time member and president of the Vandalia Lions Club, the IL Ready-Mix Concrete association, and the Midwest Ready-Mix Concrete Association.

He owned and operated Edward Taylor Construction Company and Taylor Ready-Mix Inc, Vandalia, Greenville, St. Elmo, Altamont, and Ramsey, IL from the 1950s - 1999. He also owned and operated the Days Inn, Vandalia, IL from 1995 - 2019.

Edward is survived by: his wife Donna Taylor (Vandalia), sisters Marilyn Bauman (Vandalia)and Sue Carter (Mount Sterling, IL), children Dana Smith (Joe Dutchik) (Maryville, IL), Edward E. (Kim) Taylor (Brownstown, IL), Beth (Jack) Huth (Slippery Rock, PA), Stephen Taylor (Vandalia), Mark (Teanah) Taylor (Foley, AL), Paul (Katherine) Taylor (Fillmore, IL), 18 grandchildren: Justin Smith, Lucas Smith, Seth Smith, Kristoffer Taylor, Brett Taylor, Brianne Garner, Joshua Taylor, Kayla Taylor, Jeffrey Taylor, Courtney Kershaw, Rhyane Taylor, Kip Taylor, John Huth, Afthan Reents, Abigail Taylor, Aaron Hartert, Danielle Miller, and Jeff Stone: and 27 great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, brothers Daniel and Leroy Taylor, sister Janice (Taylor) Barnes, and brother-in-law William Clymer.
