Billy D. "Moose" Michel, 84, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at his home in Vandalia, IL.
Private Graveside Service and Internment will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Vandalia, IL, with Pastor Michael Mohr, officiating. Memorials: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He was born June 18, 1935, in Vandalia, IL, the son of Norman W. & Mabel Emma Marie (Rubin) Michel. Married Martha E. Brown on December 21, 1957, in Vandalia, IL. He was Co-Owner/Operator Michel's Feed Store for 40 years; US Army Veteran 54-56; Member of Crawford-Hale Post # 95 American Legion, Vandalia, IL; Holy Cross Lutheran Church; Chairman-Fayette County Blood Bank-13 Gallon Donor; VCHS Hall of Fame; and was a Scorekeeper-Basketball and Chain Gang-Football, both for many years.
He is survived by: Wife - Martha Michel, Vandalia, IL; Son - Tim Michel & Jamie, Vandalia, IL; Daughter - Peggy Salmon & Myron, Mattoon, IL; Brother - Dan Michel & Linda, Vandalia, IL; Sister-in-law - Elaine Michel; and Grandchildren - Amy, Ryan & Lisa, Kara & Marc, Olivia & Jacob, Elias & Haley and Adeline.
Preceded in death by: Parents; and Twin Brother - Bob Michel.
