Alice Jayne Thorpe, 76, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Lakeland Rehab & Health Care Center in Effingham, IL.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, with Pastor Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery, Vernon, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM, an hour and a half prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials: To the Family. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. She was born December 1, 1946, in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Darl Eugene & Kathryn Marie (Kubina) McElroy. She married Edwin L. "Toad” Thorpe on January 11, 1969. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2009. She worked as a CNA and LPN and was affiliated with the Catholic Faith.
She is survived by: Sons - Eddie Thorpe, Patoka, IL and Toby Thorpe, Corpus Christi, TX; Daughter - Mary Ishum & Leroy, Brownstown, IL; 9 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren; Brother - Jim McElroy & Wilma, Effingham, IL; Sister - Georgette Medcalf & J.W., Brownwood, TX.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Husband; Daughter - Nickie; Brother - Dink and Billy; Sister - Betsy; Cousin - Mary McFarland.
