Wayne Louis Wicke, 81, of Vandalia, IL, died on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Fayette County Hospital SCU in Vandalia, IL. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, August 26, 2011, at Holy Cross Luther Church in Vandalia, IL with the officiating Pastor Peter Kolb. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, in Vandalia, IL with Military Rites. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, August 25th at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, and one hour before service at the Church. Memorials: American Lung Association, Holy Cross Lutheran Church and/or First Baptist Church Building Fund. He was born May 06, 1930, in Fayette County, IL, the son of Louis H. and Leta A (Niehaus) Wicke. He married Sue Carol Pryor on November 04, 1956 in Vandalia, IL. Wayne was a retired Brick Mason. He was in charge of building the Veteran's wall at Crawford Hale Post #95 and did masonry work on the sign and addition at Holy Cross Lutheran Church all of Vandalia, IL He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Crawford-Hale Post #95 American Legion of Vandalia. A member of Local #8 of Belleville, IL and a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He is survived by wife, Sue Wicke; son,Todd Wicke; daughter, Jill Wicke all of Vandalia, IL; step brother, Carl Rothe & Ina of Murphysboro, IL; half sister, Doris Courson & Richard of St. Peter, IL; half sister in-law, Susie Rothe of Hammond, IL Preceded in death parents; daughter, Pamela Sue Wicke; half brother, Leo; half sister, Betty
