Virda F. Forbus, 96, of Vandalia, IL, formerly of Ramsey, IL died on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, IL.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 02, 2015, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Fillmore, IL, with Brother Jim Vargo officiating. Burial will follow at Ramsey Cemetery, in Ramsey, IL . Visitation will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM, Tuesday, December 01, 2015 at Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, IL. and 10-11 AM Wednesday *before service* at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Fillmore, IL. Memorials: St. Matthew Lutheran Church and/or Ramsey Cemetery.

Virda was born February 28, 1919, in Moccasin Twp.. Effingham Co. IL, the Daughter of Henry William and Bertha Catherine (Laue) Strus. She first married Deward W. Showalter. Later married Abner G. Forbus, June 6, 1948 in Shumway, IL. He passed away August 29, 1989. Virda was a former Teacher later Bank Teller at Ramsey National Bank. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Gleaners Women's Group, Retired Teachers Association, and Ben Hur Literary Club. She was an avid card-player, loved to read, and enjoyed coffee with every meal.

She is survived by: 3 loving daughter: Sandra Butler, Flat Rock, NC, Janice Jones & Gerald, Ramsey, IL and Denise Schnarre & Devon, Belleville, IL; 4 grandchildren: Greg Hoffman & Elsa, Dothan, AL, Mark Hoffman & Jeannie, Birmingham, AL, Kevin Schnarre & Tanya, Swansea, IL and Ryan Jones, Rochester, NY; 8 great grandchildren: Camille & Sally Hoffman, Bella & Tate Hoffman, Braden, Carter, Drew and Avery Schnarre; several Nieces & nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother - Fred Strus, 2 sister - Clara Eyestone and Edna Helmbacher, son-in-law- David Butler, granddaughter - Stephanie Schnarre and great grandson - Charlie Hoffman.
