Vincent N. Thull, 101, lifelong resident of Ramsey, died Monday, November 11, 2013, in Springfield, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 16, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ramsey, IL. with Rev. Father Barry Harmon officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, November 15, 2013, from 4:30 to 7:00 P.M. at Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, IL, with 5:00 P.M. Rosary. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Ramsey, IL. Pallbearers will be his six surviving sons. Memorials: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Ramsey, IL and/or St. John's Hospice, Springfield, IL Vincent was born July 19, 1912, the son of Nicholas and Nellie (Miller) Thull. He married Emma Huber on April 10, 1939. After 71 years of marriage she preceded him in death August 18, 2011. He is survived by sons: Harold (Patsy), Mulberry Grove, IL; Merrill (Grace), Vandalia, IL; Edward (Lona), Apache Junction, AZ; Robert (Pamela), Independence, MO; Joseph (Sylvia), Ramsey, IL; Fred (Silvia), Las Vegas, NV; daughters: Mary Stevens (Lindell), Clinton, UT and Ann Midden (Leo), Springfield, IL; 25 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; one brother, Nick, Grand Rapids, MI and one sister, Lena Pickowitz, Fort Myers, FL. Preceded in death by: Parents; wife; son, Dale; daughter, Elta; brothers, Raymond, Charles, Anthony, John & Albert; sisters: Barbara Thull, Adeline Reardon, Louise Koehler & Marie Ernst. Vincent was a talented craftsman, wood artisan, and carpenter for over 45 years. He also taught his sons to be tradesmen as well. He built many new homes and completed many remodeling projects throughout his many years of applying his trade to most everyone in the community. In later years he crafted beautiful violins and many other keepsake items. He was a good friend and neighbor to many and unselfishly shared his talents with anyone in need. Vincent leaves a legacy as well as smiles to the stories he could tell. They say, "When an old man dies, a library burns down." When Vinnie passed away there was a huge inferno.
