Victor Vernon Leach, age 97, of Vandalia, IL, formerly of Ramsey, IL, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at SBL Fayette County Hospital LTC in Vandalia, IL.

Victor was born July 17, 1929 the son of Floyd Leach and Eufa (Francis) Leach in Pana, IL. He married Luella E. Bombal on November 24, 1957 in Vandalia, IL. She passed on June 25, 2018. Victor served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps and was later active in the Ramsey American Legion. He was also a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church and worked for many years as an insurance broker. In his younger years, Victor never knew a stranger and would rush to help anyone in need. He loved gardening and mowing, and enjoyed playing horseshoes and pool with the grandkids, nieces, nephews, and all of their friends. His and Lou's house was a gathering place for family and friends and they always made it fun.

He is survived by his daughter; Vicky (Matthew) Schaal, his grandsons; Brady (Megan) Haupt and Corey Schaal, his great granddaughter; Brooke Haupt all of Vandalia, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Luella Leach, his son; Gary Leach, and his brothers; Charles, Harold, and Kenneth.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 1:30 P.M. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, IL, officiated by Pastor Brett Cornelius. A visitation will be held the day before on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey, IL. The burial will follow funeral services at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Vera, IL. Memorial donations can be made out to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
