Born to Louie G. & Edith Pauline (Craig) Stout in Ramsey, Illinois at the family home. Veda lived in Plano, IL for many years and later in Ramsey, IL. She passed on April 15, 2025 at Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis, MO after a brief illness. She was 83 years old.

Veda worked at Plano Molding in Plano, IL from 1961 until 1993 when she retired to care for her mother. After retiring, she worked at Hillside Health Center, Impact and CTS Knights. In 2004, she moved to Ramsey, IL where her family had been longtime residents. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Ramsey.

Veda enjoyed getting her hands in the dirt with gardening and working in her yard, as well as canning the harvest. She also took great joy in sewing dresses for Children's Christmas boxes that the church would send to needy countries. Veda was also an experienced quilter, having helped her mother with quilt-making for many years. Her many nieces and nephews were the light of her life.

She is survived by her brother – David (Diana) Stout, Plano, IL and sister – Mary Florence Keay, Plano, IL, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents: Louie and Edith Pauline Stout, brothers: Norman Stout, Joe Stout, Bobby Stout; sister: Judy Crouch.

Visitation to be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in rural Ramsey, with the service starting at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Greg Shannon officiating.  Burial to take place at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials: Mt.
