Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 20, 2015, at Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey, IL, with Pastor Terry Sapp, officiating. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery, in Fillmore, IL. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, IL. Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey, IL is in charge of the arrangements. She was born on January 22, 1960, in Peru, IN, the Daughter of Warren "Bud" G. and Geraldine Ann (Pence) Griggs. She married Johnny R. Whitten, on October 21, 1992, in Las Vegas, NV, he passed away October 4, 2001. She was a Pricing Coordinator at County Market, Vandalia, IL. Val was an Avid Cubs & Colts Fan and enjoyed bowling.

She is survived by: Sons - Jason Whitten, Assumption, IL, & Ryan "Buddy" Dyer & Jessica, Ballwin, MO; Daughter - Shannon Williams & Bryan, Ramsey, IL; Brothers & Sisters - Mike Griggs & Charmon, Rochester, IN, Dennis Wood & Kristen, & David Wood, Diane Holmstead & Keith and Dedra Wood, all of IN; Grandchildren - Blayke, Hunter, Jackson & Greyson.

Preceded in death by: Parents; Husband; & Grandchildren - Blaine & Shane Williams.
