Sylvia Ann Briley, age 73, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026 at SBL Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia, IL.
Sylvia was born May 31, 1953 the daughter of Sylvan Sylvester Swabb and Violet Swabb in Dayton, OH. She married Richard Briley on May 1, 1976 in Houston, TX.
She is survived by her husband; Richard Briley, her children; Michelle (John) Wehrle and Richard (Olivia) Briley III, grandchildren; Chloe (Kody) Bland, Joshua Wehrle, Lexi Briley, Layla Briley, and Anthony Abkarian, sister; Virginia Proffitt, other relatives and friends.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Gary, Teddy, Carol and Bonnie Bond, and Larry Swabb.
Sylvia Briley, to know her was to love her. Sylvia will be remembered for her selfless heart and deep love for her family. Sylvia adored her beloved husband, children, and grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Sylvia's love for God was the foundation of everything she did. She lived her faith through kindness, grace, generosity, and a truly selfless heart, always putting the needs of others before her own. A dedicated and hardworking person, she genuinely loved caring for others. She devoted many years to providing comfort, dignity, and compassionate care to countless patients and families, treating each person with kindness and respect. Her work was more than a career-it was a calling that reflected her servant's heart and deep commitment to helping those in need. Sylvia's legacy of faith, unconditional love, selflessness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and those she cared for will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
In keeping with her wishes, we will be holding a private service for the family. We appreciate your understanding as we take this time to grieve, remember her, and celebrate her life together.
