Suzanne Ray Nelson, 67, of Corona, California, formerly of Vandalia, IL, died on Sunday, July 8, 2012 in Riverside, CA. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 20, 2012, at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, IL, with Rev. Robert Francisco officiating. Friends and Family may gather at 10:30 at the cemetery. Memorials: The Donor's Choice. Suzanne was born on January 17, 1945, in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Albert Edwin "Lee" and Bernadine Helen "Bernie" (Peyton) Ray. She graduated from Vandalia High School and from Browns Business College, Decatur, IL. After working a while in Decatur she moved to Torrance, CA with some friends and worked for Continental Airlines and Crystal Cruises for several years. She married Kurt Nelson on April 4, 1992 in Torrance, CA. They were richly blessed when Laurel Suzanne joined their family at the tender age of 1year in 1995. She was a member of the Christian Church in Torrance, CA, an avid reader, loved to keep in touch with old school friends in Vandalia and enjoyed life to the fullest. Suzanne leaves to mourn her passing, her Husband, Kurt Nelson of Corona, CA; Daughter, Laurel Nelson of CA; Mother, Bernie Ray of Vandalia, IL; Sister, Barbara Akeman & Phillip of Altamont, IL and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her Father.
