Shirley J. Frick, age 89, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Meridian Village, with her loving family by her side.
Born on December 17, 1936, in Wolf Creek, Illinois, Shirley was the cherished daughter of the late John and Carrie (Mann) Williams. On July 29, 1955, she married the love of her life, Rev. Louis W. Frick Jr., in Corinth, Mississippi. Together, they shared an extraordinary 70+ years of marriage filled with faith, devotion, and countless treasured memories.
Shirley was of the Methodist faith and her love for the Lord was evident in her joyful spirit and willingness to serve. She was also a proud member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed traveling alongside her husband as part of the NOMADS. Shirley found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, especially playing board games with her family, sharing laughter, and creating lasting memories with those she loved most.
She had a vibrant spirit, a warm smile, and a heart full of love. Shirley embraced life with joy and grace, and her greatest pride was always her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Cloyd and Carlyle Williams.
Shirley leaves behind her devoted husband, Rev. Louis W. Frick Jr. of Glen Carbon; her loving sons, Louis W. (Annette) Frick III of Glen Carbon and Jonathan K. (Cory Heitmier) Frick-Heitmier New Orleans, Louisiana; her beloved grandchildren, Paige Frick and Taylor Frick; as well as twenty-five nieces and nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2026, with the memorial service to follow at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Curtis Flake officiating at First United Methodist Church, 127 North 4th Street, Vandalia, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Preachers Aid Society or to your local church in honor of Shirley’s lifelong faith and service.
