Roger Z. Withers "Rod", 81, of Vandalia, IL, died on Sunday, October 2, 2011 in Vandalia, IL. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 6, 2011, at First Baptist Church, Vandalia, IL , with Rev. Joe Lawson & Rev. Robert Weaver officiating. Burial will be in McInturff Cemetery, in Rural Vandalia, IL. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 6, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Vandalia, IL (2 hours before the Service.)Memorials: Second Chance Animal Rescue. He was born on June 29, 1930, in Vandalia, IL, the son of Cameron B. & Nellie ( Boggs) Withers. He married Beverly Jean Hall on January 21, 1956, later married Frances C. "Frankie" Kelly on June 9, 1990, Frankie passed away April 14, 2007. Rod was a retired Lt. for the Federal Bureau of Prisons and a member of First Baptist Church, Crawford-Hale Post # 95, Moose Lodge #1447 all of Vandalia, IL and NRA. He was a U.S. Navy, Korean Conflict veteran. He is survived by 4 Sons: Mitchell Withers & Jami, Marion, IL; David Withers & Rhonda, Oviedo, FL; Steven Withers & Kathy, Gulf Shores, AL; Joe Withers & Julie, Vandalia, IL 2 Daughters: Joni Withers, Vandalia, IL; Julie Vincent, Littleton, CO. 3 Sisters: Mary Hanradt, Belleville, IL; June Sphar, Decatur, IL; Delores "Dode" Bone, Vandalia, IL. 6 Grandchildren. 2 Step-sons: Warren " Chip" Simmons of MI: David Simmons & Karen of GA. Preceded in death by Parents, Wife, Frankie, 1 Brother, William & 1 Sister, Betty Mongomery.
