Richard John Carruthers, Sr., 96, of Ramsey, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at his home in Ramsey, IL.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 30, 2023, at First Baptist Church, Ramsey, IL with Pastor Jeff Shouse officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL, with Military Rites. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the service at the church. He was born September 30, 1927, in East Troy, Wisconsin, the son of Claude P. & Ima S. (Hardiman) Carruthers. He married Rosalind Blankenship on May 14, 1950, in Shelbyville, IL. She passed away February 21, 2008. He worked for 10 years at the State Bank of Bement and 10 years at Ramsey National Bank, and retired from the State of Illinois as an auditor; he served his country in the United States Army during World War II; and was a member of First Baptist Church, Ramsey, IL.

Survived by: Son - Richard J. Carruthers Jr. & Deborah, Ramsey, IL; Grandchildren - David, Stephen & Tara, and Thomas & Whitney; Great Grandchildren - Jeremiah, Zach, Brayden, Kaitlyn, Atalia, Eli, and Emma; Sisters - Donna Depew, O'Fallon, IL and Nancy Stanton, Hillsboro, IL.

Preceded in death by: Parents; Wife; Brothers - Robert, Ray, Roy, Cloide Jr., and Daniel Carruthers; Sisters - Mary, Cloide Alice, Helen, Imogene, Rose, and Becky.
