Obituary

Neil F. Blankenship, Jr., 71, of Vandalia, Illinois, formerly of Ramsey, Illinois, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020, at Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia, IL.


Graveside services with Military Rites will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 17, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Ramsey, IL, with Father Scott Snider officiating. Friends and family may gather at the cemetery at 10:00 A.M. Memorials: Ramsey American Legion and/or St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, IL, is in charge of arrangements. Born January 1, 1949, in Neillsville, WI, the son of Neil Francis, Sr. & Agnes May (Wilson) Blankenship. He was licensed high-rise plumber; member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ramsey, IL and U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a fireman on the U.S.S Forrestal Aircraft Carrier. Neil was an avid musician and band leader in the "Neil Blake Show". He loved playing his guitar and country music.


Survived by: Son - Joseph N. Blankenship, Spring Hope, NC; Daughter - Melanie D. White & Edmond, Wake Forest, NC; Brother - Fred Blankenship, Arenzville, IL; Sisters - Catherine "Katie" Cunningham, Ramsey, IL and Mary Jane Hauser & Dave, Jacksonville, IL; Grand Child - William White; and Several Nephews & Nieces.


Preceded in death by: Parents; and 1 Infant Grandson.
