Michael Lee Wheatley, age 74, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Michael was born July 1, 1952 the son of Pete Wheatley in East St. Louis, MO. He later married Vicky Stine on June 11, 1999. He worked for many years as a custodian at the SBL Fayette County Hospital. Michael was a member of the Shriners and the Masons. He also loved to fish, hunt, and cook and barbeque.

He is survived by his wife; Vicky Wheatley, his children; Kelly (Donald) Phillips of Mulberry Grove, IL, G.R. (Karen) Stine of Vandalia, IL, and Tammy (Scott) Votrain of O'Fallon, IL, his 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father; brother, Ronny Wheatley; and son-in-law, Jeff Redenbo.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at the Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, IL, officiated by Pastor Joe Lawson. A visitation will be held prior from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. also at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made out to the family.
