Michael Joe Hunter, 76, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at SBL Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, IL.

He was born December 2, 1948, in Silver City, NM, the son of Allen Manford & Mary Rojean (Coffindaffer) Hunter. He married Karen Louise (Nungenster) Hunter on February 10, 1968, Hillsboro, IL. He worked for many years as a brick mason, was a Shriner, and he enjoyed fishing and mowing the lawn.

He is survived by: Wife - Karen Hunter; Son - James Hunter & Tina; Daughter - Paula Hunter, all of Vandalia, IL; Grandchildren - Matthew Hunter & Nikki, Tessa Hunter, Tristan Hunter & Emily; Great Grandchildren - Caroline and Greyson.

Preceded in death by: Parents and Brother - Ronald Hunter.
