Melvin R. Cothern, 79, of Ramsey, IL, died on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 18, 2011, at Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey, IL with Rev. Larry O'Dell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, in Rural Ramsey, IL. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, IL. Memorials: Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Rural Ramsey, IL. Melvin was born on January 24, 1932, in Ramsey, IL, the Son of Manuel Lewis "Buck" and Elsie E. (Hill) Cothern. He married Rita Ilene Otto on April 13, 1952 in Ramsey, IL. Rita passed away February 27, 2007. He was a Farmer and Member of First Baptist Church, Ramsey, IL. He is survived by 2 Sons: Melvin "Rick" Cothern & Barton Cothern, both of Ramsey, IL; 2 Daughters: Susan Sneyd & Bob, and Cindy Burdzilauskas & her Special Friend, Scott, both of Pana, IL; 1 Sister: Peggy Francois, Sierra Vista, AZ; 9 Grandchildren & 13 Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by Parents, Wife & 1 Grandson.
