Melody Ann (Fry) Steiner, age 70, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Melody was born November 21, 1955 in Des Plaines, IL, the daughter of Don Fry and Alta Rose (Burrus) Fry. She married Robert Lee Steiner on December 31, 2016. Melody loved crafting, gardening, flowers, and going on walks. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with them. Her grandkids were her everything.
She is survived by her husband; Robert Steiner of Mulberry Grove, IL, her children; Dean (Devin) Englert of Pocahontas, IL, Amanda (Erik) Metzger of rural Shobonier, IL, Tiffany (Jason) Leigh of Vandalia, IL, Robert's children; Chuck Steiner of Mulberry Grove, IL, Shelly Steiner of Highland, IL, Cindy Ballinger of Ridgeway, IL, and Tony (Dee) Steiner of Mulberry Grove, IL, her grandchildren; Zoee, Jaxon, Daxton, Cole, Breanne, Hannah (Hunter), Darian, Ethan, Emma, Samantha, Kolten, Dustin, Derik, Quinton, and Alex, her great grandchildren; Jazmyn, Makinlee, Quincee, Emeree, Nova, Colt, Paisley, and Tucker, her siblings; Connie (Paul) Fisher of Macomb, IL, Donnie (Carmen) Fry of Vandalia, IL, Steve (Virginia) Fry of Shelbyville, IL, and Kim (Ron) Holm of Sullivan, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Don and Alta Rose Fry, and her husband; Jim Benefiel.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Crown Point Church in rural Vandalia, IL, officiated by Pastor Pete LeDuc. A visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service at Maxey Cemetery in Smithboro, IL. Memorial donations can be made out to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Maxey Cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL is in charge of arrangements.
