Mary V. Stokes, 94, of Ramsey, IL, died on Tuesday, November 04, 2014 at Pana Community Hospital in Pana, IL. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 08, 2014, at Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey, IL, with Pastor Terry Sapp officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, November 07, 2014 at Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, IL. Burial in Ramsey Cemetery, Ramsey, IL. Memorials: Ramsey Golden Circle and/or American Diabetes Association. Online memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.millerfh.net She was born on January 10, 1920, in St. Louis, MO, the Daughter of Howard Lee and Edna Alice (Powell) Parsons. She married Howard Winston Stokes, on Friday, October 17, 1942 in Richmond Heights, MO. Howard passed away August 13, 2004. Mary was very active in the Ramsey Community School District, teaching 7th & 8th grades and later English and French at Ramsey Community High School, She became certified as a Librarian, responsible for the school's library, retiring in June 1984. She has been active in the community and had served terms on the Fayette County Hospital Board, Ramsey Town Board, Ramsey Public Library Board and Pana Community Hospital Governing Board, a member of the United Methodist Church, Ramsey,IL. She is survived by Son - Lee Stokes & Judy, Bozeman, MT, 2 Daughters - Mary Lou Miller & Steve, Boston, MA and Diane Stokes & Phil Mark, Chicago, IL; 6 Grandchildren- Julie, Kit, Aimee, Cerise, Rebecca, Ethan and 2 Great Grandchildren- Nate and Adrian. Preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, 1 Brother and 4 Sisters
