Obituary

Rev. Martin Otto Haseley 79 of rural Farina passed away in the comfort of his home Friday, December 30, 2022. He was born to William and Pearl Haseley on December 13, 1943 on the family farm in rural Shafter, Illinois.


Martin attended school in Vera and Vandalia. He joined the Navy in 1964. When he returned home from the Navy, he went to work at Michael's Feed Store in Vandalia. He also farmed in the Vera area.


Martin married Sharon Kay Beck from Herrick on October 19, 1973.


Martin was ordained as a Southern Baptist Minister on December 2, 1990 at the Hagarstown Baptist Church. He pastored 4 different churches and provided pulpit supply for 40 different churches during his ministry.


Martin is survived by his wife Sharon. Sisters: Julia (Roger) Quick, Farina, IL – Freda Beccue, Altamont, IL. Brother-in-laws: Roger (Tina) Beck, Raymond (Bev) Beck, Bernard Beck. Sister-in-laws: Glenda Bolyard and Margie Beck, along with several nieces and nephews.


Martin was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Dale and Edgar and Sister: Edith Haseley.


Services will be held on Wednesday January 4, 2023 at the Kaskaskia Church at 11:00 am with Pastors Joe Lawson and Nick Robertson officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 am until time of service. Burial with military rites will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Rural Ramsey, IL by Anderson-Scroggins Post 46. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery or Kaskaskia Church.
