Lorna L. Davis, 100, of Vandalia, Illinois, formerly of Tower Hill, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at her home.

Lorna was born November 30, 1923 in Shelby County to Charles W. and Mary Myrtle (Siegfried) Miller. She grew up in the Robison Creek area, farming with horses on the family farm. She also learned about gardening from her mother at a very young age. This helped to instill her lifelong love of gardening. As a young adult she began working for her sister and brother-in-law at Sibbitt's Station in Tower Hill. She was a retail clerk at the business until it's closing in 1983. Lorna was well known for her large, well-kept garden. The produce was not only preserved, but shared with family and friends. The lady could grow anything (not a trait passed along to her daughter).

She married Herschel Davis on November 28, 1946 in Tower Hill, IL. He preceded her in death in 1979. Lorna was a member of the Tower Hill United Methodist Church. She actively supported the Tower Hill Lions Club where Herschel had been a charter member.

Lorna is survived by her daughter, Bonita (Randy) Harrison, Vandalia, IL; grandson, Brandon Harrison, Vandalia, IL; brother-in-law, Rudy Dowell, Tower Hill, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Edith (Paul) Kimlel and Fern (Fay) Sibbitt; son-in-law, Alan D. Hoffman, M.D.

Graveside services were held Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Tower Hill Cemetery, Tower Hill, IL. In lieu of flowers and other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in Lorna's memory. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements.
