Lindell Martie, age 89, passed away August 25, 2025 at Revela at O'Fallon Assisted Living in O'Fallon, IL.
He was born December 12, 1935 in Hallidayboro, IL, the son of Clarence and Juanita (Halstead) Martie. Lindell married Iris Anne Carter on July 26, 1959 in Ramsey, IL.
Lindell worked in education for many years, retiring as a grade school principal. He also coached many sports during his time in the Ramsey School District. He also worked his cattle farm for many years. He was a part of many groups and associations: Illinois Education Association, National Education Association, Illinois Harness Horse Association, US Trotting Association, Bond Effingham Fayette Region Board of Education, Retired Teachers Association, Illinois Principals Association. He was also a member of the Ramsey Christian Church. Lindell was inducted into the Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame in 1987. He was also a part of the Martin Oilers when they won State Championships in 1970, 1971, and 1972, as well as, the following year when they finished second.
He is survived by his wife, Iris Martie; his children; Brian (Lynn) Martie, Karen (Kevin) Harris, and Tim (Tammy) Martie; grandchildren, Joshua Martie, Amanda Hass, Tyler Harris, Paige Kuhlman, and Brianna Walker, and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry Martie.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on August 28, 2025 at Ramsey Christian Church in Ramsey, IL with Pastor Charlie McGee officiating. Burial will follow at the Ramsey Cemetery in Ramsey, IL. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 also at the Ramsey Christian Church in Ramsey, IL. Memorials can be made out to the Elverado Education Foundation. Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, is in charge of arrangements. Online memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.millerfh.net.
