June Evadine Mahon, 96, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023, SBL Fayette County Hospital LTC in Vandalia, IL.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the Unity Baptist Church, Vandalia, IL, with Pastor Robert Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the Unity Baptist Church, Vandalia, IL. Memorials: Unity Baptist Church. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. Online memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.millerfh.net.
June was born Saturday, June 4, 1927, in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Tony Earl & Fern (Simmons) Brown. She married Robert Gerald Mahon on July 11, 1948. Robert passed on December 7, 2009.
After graduating from Vandalia High School, she began working at the Fayette County Circuit Clerk's Office as Deputy Clerk. Later she worked at the Vandalia Township Supervisor's Office as secretary and accountant. In 1992 June began work at the Tourist Information Center and over the years worked for the City of Vandalia and Chamber of Commerce as a receptionist and secretary.
She was active in many school functions, participated in may community activities; member of the former First Baptist Church, relocated and now known as the Unity Baptist Church. Throughout the years, June participated in many functions and events held by the church.
She was a wife, mother, and homemaker; enjoyed life and her family; she had many friends.
She is survived by Daughters - Sharon Mahon, Vandalia, IL and Susan Heston & John, Greenville, IL; Granddaughter - Rachel Davis & Jaron; and Great grandson - Alaric "Ari" Davis, all of Edwardsville, IL.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Husband; Brothers- Clifton Brown and wife Barbara and Dale Brown and wife Sandra; and Sister - Barbara Walker
