John Edward Cole, 83, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024, at his home in Vandalia, IL.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL with Pastor Joe Lawson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the service time at 11:00 AM, Saturday at the funeral home. There will be a private burial. Memorials: Donor's Choice. He was born January 18, 1941, in Vandalia, IL, the son of John Jerold "Jerry" & Dorothy Marie (Meredith) Cole. He worked as a clerk for the Illinois Department of Corrections in Vandalia, IL and was affiliated with the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by: Daughters - Peggy S. Cole and Karen J. Barcus, both of Effingham, IL; Sister - Patricia "Pat" Benefiel & Jack, Bethalto, IL; Grandchildren - Ashlee, Cory, Brayden, Brenna and Kaylee; Great Grandchildren - Maddie and Michaela; Niece - Cathi Journey.
