James Leon Rickman, 66, of Vandalia, IL, died on Saturday, December 01, 2012 at his home in rural Vandalia, IL. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 06, 2012, at McInturff Cemetery in Rural Vandalia, IL with the Rev. Ernest Flowers officiating. Military Rites will be accorded at the cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 05, 2012 at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL . Memorials: McInturff Cemetery, Rural Vandalia, IL. He was born October 01, 1946, in St. Louis, MO, the son of James Robert and Nancy Alice (Knowlton) Rickman. He married Norma Loy Dean (Donaldson) May on June 22, 1991 in Vandalia, IL. James spent his entire career in Law Enforcement. He was a police officer for the Ramsey and Nokomis communities. He later served with the Department of Corrections in Statesville, Taylorville, finally retiring from the Vandalia Correctional Center. James was a Navy Veteran, serving as a seaman-electrician on the USS Pocono and Enterprise. He was a member of AFSCME Local 993 and F.O.P. He is survived by wife, Norma Rickman of Vandalia, IL. Children: Cheryl Whitten and Boyfriend, Bill Schweizer; Jim May & Wife Kelly; Tracey Hefty & Husband Scott; Dale May & Wife Brandi; Eric Rickman & Wife Tracy; Greg Rickman & Fiancé, Christy Benhoff. 15 Grandchildren: Bill Hefty & Wife Trese, Amanda Whitten, Josh May, Kasie Hefty, Adam May, Lauren Whitten, C.J. Spearman, Jacob Chamness, Melinda Chamness, Lane Durbin, McKayla Durbin, Cadie Rickman, Dillon Whitten, Makenzie May, Brayden Rickman. 2 Great Grandchildren: Alan Hefty & Lillian Hefty.
