Helen Alberta Wooten, 82, of Vandalia, IL, died on Friday, May 25, 2012 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, IL. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 31, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Vandalia, IL with Pastor Todd Korasick officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, in Vandalia, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 30, 2012 & 1 hour before the Service, all at First Baptist Church, Vandalia, IL. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials: Vandalia School Foundation. Online memories & condolences may be shared with the family at www.millerfh.net Alberta was born on July 14, 1929, in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Harry and Helen (Hamilton) Smith. Married Lawrence Edward "Larry" Wooten March 28,1953 in Belleville, IL. Larry passed away on April 14, 2008. Alberta was a retired teacher (40 years), teaching in New York, New Jersey, Freeburg, IL, Mascoutah, IL and Vandalia, IL. A member of the First Baptist Church, Vandalia, IL, other memberships through the years include; D.A.R., American Legion Auxiliary, O.E.S., Delta Kappa Gamma, Cameo Club, IL Retired Teachers Asso., Women of the Moose, Vandalia Country & Golf Club, V.C.H.S Athletic Hall of Fame & Fayette County Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by Daughter, Melissa Wells & Darin, Vandalia, IL; Grandchildren, Michael, Helen Nicole & Matthew Wells all at home; Sister, Osceola Mueller & Ken, O'Fallon, IL; Brother, Wallace Joe Smith & Pat, Belleville, IL; Sister In-law, Donna S. Smith, Vandalia, IL; Aunts, Betty Hamilton Kelly & Lucile Smith, both of Vandalia, IL. Uncle, Stanley Wolff , Centralia, IL, Several Cousins, Nephews & Nieces. She is preceded in death by Parents, Husband & 3 Brothers, Donald, Gail and Sammy Smith.
