Ginger Ann Wells, age 89 of Vandalia, IL passed away on July 3, 2026 at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL.

She was born December 12, 1936 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Jake and Ethel (Boggs) Augenstein. She married Samuel Eugene "Gene" Wells on June 28, 1959 in Vandalia, IL. He passed away on October 2, 2023. Ginger was a school teacher for 40 years in the Vandalia school system. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church, and she sang in the choir for many years. She and Gene led a youth group for many years. She was an active member of BSU and a member of Soroptimist International of Vandalia, IL. Ginger enjoyed planning trips and hosting parties. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed making memories with them.

She is survived by her children, Rick (Sherri) Wells of Vandalia, IL and Traci (Daniel) Small of South Carolina; grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) DuPlayee, Ashley (Michael) McCormick, Brandon (Allison Stevens) Wells, Andrew (Savannah) Small, Brooklyn Small, and Carson Small; and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 beginning at 10:00 AM at Unity Baptist Church in Vandalia, IL. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL is in charge of arrangements. Online memories and condolences may be shared with the family and www.millerfh.net.
