Fred C. Ehrat, 88, of Altamont, IL, formerly of Shobonier, IL, died on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, IL. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia, IL, with Rev. Peter Kolb officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, in Shobonier, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday, December 17, 2011at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia, IL (1 hour before the service). Memorials: Lutheran Care Center, Altamont, IL and/or Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia, IL. Fred was born on May 29, 1923, in Shobonier, IL, the son of Albert and Ella (Beckmeier) Ehrat. He married Valeria E. Wollin on October 30, 1949 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, St. Paul, IL. Fred was a retired Dairy Farmer, member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia, IL and a past member of Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shobonier, IL. He is survived by wife, Valeria Ehrat of Altamont, IL; 1Son: Dennis Ehrat & Bunny, Brownstown, IL; 1Daughter: Angela Ehrat, Vandalia, IL; 1Granddaughter: Monica Chandler & Dustin, Brownstown, IL; 1Brother: Donald Ehrat & Emily, Shobonier, IL; 1Sister: Marcella Albrecht & Sherwin, St. Peter, IL; 2 Great Grandchildren: Wyatt & Daisy. Preceded in death by Parents and 1 Brother, Omar.
