Forrest D. "Potto" Johnson, 94, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 07, 2015, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, with Rev. Pastor Robert Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Maxey Cemetery, Rural Smithboro, IL, with Military Rites. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, *before the service*, Saturday, March 07, 2015, with 10:45 AM Masonic Rites, at the Funeral Home. Memorials: Shriners Hospitals For Children. He was born March 14, 1920, in Smithboro, IL, the son of Henry Cleveland & Elizabeth Olive (Roach) Johnson. Married Elva Ruth Hediger April 20, 1948, in Mulberry Grove, IL, she passed away February 25, 2013. He was a retired Cable Splicer for IL Bell, with 37 years of perfect attendance; World War II Army Veteran; Affiliated with the First Christian Church; Member of Crawford Hale Post # 95 Am. Legion; One of the oldest members of Temperance Lodge # 16 AF & AM (68 years plus) all of Vandalia, IL; Scottish Rite Bodies and Ainad Temple Shrine. Following retirement, he enjoyed working with Meals on Wheels, mowing lawns and spending time with his beloved grandchildren and morning coffee group. He touched the lives of many and will be missed dearly. He is survived by: Son - Lannie Johnson, Vandalia, IL; Daughters - Brenda Ellis & Ted, Effingham, IL and Donna Flesch & Ed, Forsyth, IL; Grandchildren - Michael, Amanda, Ben Flesch and Matt Ellis & Stephanie; Great Granddaughter - Makayla. Preceded in death by: Parents; Wife; Grandson - Thomas Flesch; and 3 Sisters.
