Eugene "Gene" R. Conaway, 74, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Friday, November 1, 2019, in his home, Vandalia, IL.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Unity Baptist Church, Vandalia, with Pastor Joe Lawson, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL, with Military Rites by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post #95, Vandalia, IL & Brownstown VFW Post # 9770. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, November 8, 2019, at Unity Baptist Church, Vandalia, IL and 1 hr. prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Memorials: Fayette Co. Cancer Fund, Vandalia, IL. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. Online memories and condolences may be shared with the family atwww.millerfh.net.
He was born July 4, 1945, in Saint Louis, MO, the son of Raney Carbon & Hester Martha (Bridger) Conaway. Married Doris Donelle Hicks on November 15, 1986, Vandalia, IL. He worked for Phillips 66 as a Coding Pipeline Inspector; U.S. Army Veteran; Former member of Temperance Lodge # 16 A.F.A.M. Vandalia, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Southern Illinois, Belleville, IL, Ainad Temple Shrine, E. St. Louis, IL, VFW Post 3862 and American Legion Post #95.
He is survived by: Wife – Donelle Conaway, Vandalia, IL; Daughters – Tonya Jean Bonar & Robert, Waynesville, MO and Patricia Ann Ingram and Justin, Licking, MO; Son – Don Kingston & Carol, Vandalia, IL; Daughter – Debra Kleinik& Gordon Morton, Granite City, IL; and Son – Darren Kingston, Vandalia, IL; Grandchildren – Amanda, Autumn, Heather, Taylor Ann, Ryder, Destiny, Josh, Leah, Bailey, Qwentyn and Taylor Michelle; Great Grand Child – Addie; Brothers – Danny Conaway & Tamie and Donald Conaway & Sandy, all of Cuba, MO; and Extended Family – Mike Kleinik, and Udo Sines & Paula, all of Vandalia, IL.
