Ellen Ruth Smith, 81, of Fillmore, IL,passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Hillsboro Area Hospital ER, Hillsboro, IL.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 10, 2022, at Northside Christian Church, Vandalia, IL, with Pastor Dennis Warner officiating. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery, Edgewood, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, October 9, 2022, at the Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL and 1 hr prior to the service at the church on Monday. She was born September 30, 1941, in Nokomis, IL the daughter of Edgar Ray and Grace (Pope) Smalley-Presnell. Married James Leotis Smith on September 21, 1985 in Vandalia, IL, he passed away November 23, 2017. She worked at Western Union, Fillmore Cafe, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Northside Christian Church, Vandalia, IL; enjoyed reading, adult coloring books, gospel music concerts and gardening. Ellen loved spending time with her family, pets, and church family.

She is survived by: Sons - Richard Haslett & Shelly, Waggoner, IL, David Haslett, Fillmore, IL, Kenneth Haslett, Coffeen, IL, Jerry Haslett, Fillmore, IL, Joseph Haslett & Stephanie, Witt, IL; Daughter - Michele Beck & Greg, Fillmore, IL; Step-children - Janet Smith, Illinois, Cheryl Dykstra & Doug of Florida, Sandy Jacko, Wisconsin, and James Smith, Indiana; Grandchildren - Michael, David, Austin, Samantha, Sarah Cheyenne, & Mikey; Great-grandchild - Elaina; Brother - Paul Presnell & Twila, Nokomis, IL; Sister - Betty Shermer, Lancaster, PA; and Sister-In-law - Faye Smalley, Nokomis, IL.
