Obituary

Eldon Leon Lawler "Leon", 70, of Mulberry Grove, IL, died on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, with Pastor Harry Kirk and Rev. Ernest Flowers officiating. Burial will follow at Green-Hill Cemetery, in Vanburensburg, IL, with Military Rites. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, December 22, 2012 and 1 hr before service on Sunday, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL. Memorials: Green-Hill Cemetery. He was born on December 06, 1942, in Bond County, IL, the son of Eldon D. and Josephine L. (Brown) Lawler. He married Linda K. Washburn on May 26, 1962, in Bluff City, IL. He was a member of Mulberry Grove American Legion, Vandalia Moose Lodge, National Corn Growers Association, Society for the Preservation of Early Country & Western Music, Inc.., Bond County Farm Bureau, also served on Mulberry Grove Township Board for several years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1966-1968. Leon was a grain & livestock farmer, worked 20 years at Pet Milk, Inc.. in Greenville, IL, former owner/operator of Triple L Trucking, 2007-2011. He was a graduate of Vandalia Community High School. He is survived by wife, Linda Lawler of Mulberry Grove; brother, Larry Lawler and Ava, Mulberry Grove, IL; half-sisters, Debbie Jones and Denise Bray, both of Kentucky; nephews and nieces, Michael, Tony, Stephanie, Seth & Cory. Preceded in death by his parents.
