Dorothy Jean Schultz, age 91, of Vandalia, IL, passed away Monday, August 24, 2026 at SBL Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, IL.
Dorothy was born on October 26, 1934, the daughter of Ray Matthews and Margaret (Oleson) Matthews in Beardstown, IL. She graduated from Springfield School of Beauty Culture in 1953. She married Robert Schultz on September 24,1955 and he preceded her in death on September 7, 1990. They moved to Vandalia in 1962. Dorothy was Director at SAFE in Vandalia and also worked as a tax consultant and bookkeeper. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, IL.
She is survived by her children; Robin Scribner of Vandalia, IL and Teresea Anglin of East Alton, IL, her grandchildren; Brittney (Jeff) Ray, Travis Scribner, Chad Dane (Tad Huskey), and Rick Cripe, her great grandchildren; Conner Ray (Madison Berry), Parker Ray, Amelia Lamb, Morgan (Luke) Tessman, and Bostyn Cripe, her great great grandchildren; Hudson Ray and Gus Tessman, and her sister-in-law; Beverly Carlock.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Robert Schultz, her son; Donald Schultz, and her siblings; Shirley Cooper, Bill Matthews, and Bud Carlock.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, IL, officiated by Pastor Curtis Flake. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. also at the church. Burial will follow the services at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, IL. Memorial donations can be made out to First United Methodist Church or SAFE. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL is in charge of arrangements.
