Dean E. Carter, 80, of Hillsboro, IL, died on Friday, April 27, 2012 at his home. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, with the Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, in Vandalia, IL, with Military Rites. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, April 30, 2012 at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, Memorials: Montgomery Cancer Society. He was born September 9, 1931, in Vera, IL, the son of Bermie Paul and Myrtle Marie (Lawler) Carter. He married Beatrice Elaine Scoles April 17, 1954 in St. Elmo, IL. Dean was a member of the VCHS Class of 1950, Korean Conflict U.S. Army Veteran, retired newspaper Typesetter for the State Journal Register, member of NRA and Newspaper Union He is survived by wife: Bea Carter, Hillsboro, IL ; Daughters: LaDeana Criswell & Alan, Mt. Vernon, IN and Robin LeAnna Carter & Jan, San Antonio, TX; Grandchildren: Jamie, Ashley & Richy; Sister In law: Joyce Carter of Vandalia, IL.
