He was born, January 1, 1959, in Gulfport, MS, the son of Kenneth Raymond & Patricia "Pat" Marie (Murphy) Gathe. Married Angela Kay Brumfield, June 23, 1999 in Jamaica. He was a retired employee with the State of Illinois. David loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding, but most of all he adored spending time with his grandchildren.

Gathe, Vernon, IL; Son - Clayton Gathe & Brandi, Vandalia, IL; Daughter - Andrea Meadows & Mark, Vandalia, IL; God-Children - Ashtyn Thessen & Alex, Cherry Point, NC, Colten Lasley & Lexi, Fort Rucker, AL, and Lyndon Lasley, Belleville, IL; Brothers - Karl Gathe, Vandalia, IL, Dudley Gathe & Suzanne, Seymour, TN and Ted Gathe, Alamogordo, NM; Sisters - Teena Yarbrough, Tammy Eyman, both of Vandalia, IL, Tricia Grandt & Brad, Shobonier, IL, and Amy Pyle & Bubba, Seymour, TN; Grandchildren – Payton, Camdyn & Liam.
