David L. Crye, Sr., 82, of Vandalia, IL, died on Tuesday, January 08, 2013, at St. Louis University Hospital, in St. Louis, MO. Services will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, January 12, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, IL with the Dr. Roger Grimmett officiating. Masonic Rites will be accorded at 11:45 A.M. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, in Vandalia, IL, with Military Rites. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (before the service) Saturday, January 12, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, IL. Memorials: Crawford-Hale Post #95 American Legion, Vandalia and/or Shriners Hospitals for Children. David was born on November 29, 1930, in Wilson, OK, the son of Curtis L. and Mittie Mae (Teague) Crye. He married Barbara Janes on October 02, 1950, in Vandalia, she passed away July 18, 2009. He was a retired pump inspector for Exxon Oil Company, formerly employed by Carter and Humble Oil Companies. David was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of First United Methodist Church; Crawford Hale Post #95 American Legion, 60 year member; VFW Post #3862; Temperance Lodge #16 A.F. & A.M.; Old National Trail Shrine Club and Original Tim Lizzie Patrol, all of Vandalia; Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Southern IL, Belleville, IL; Order of Eastern Star, Effingham; Ainad Temple Shrine, East St. Louis, IL. He is survived by daughters: Martha Brennan and Dr. James, Ballwin, MO.; Stacey Langston and Artie, Vandalia, IL.; daughter in-law: Nancy Crye Huskey, Vandalia, IL; grandchildren: Mandi, Lindsay, Arthur, David Thomas, Colleen, Dustin, Ryan, Danielle and Kyle; great grandchildren: Emma, William, Molly Kate, Ireland, Drew, Lucia and Gage.
