Darrell L. Stokes, 76, of Ramsey, Illinois, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at his home.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 15, 2015, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, with Pastor Harry Kirk, officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL. Memorials: Liberty Church and/or Donors Choice.

He was born April 08, 1939, in Fayette County, IL, the son of Carroll & Pearl (Oary) Stokes. Darrell was raised by special parents Gerald & Dorothy B. Largent. Married Shirley L. McDowell on July 23, 1960, Bluff City, IL. He was a Manufacturing Engineer @ Caterpillar in Joliet, IL, for over 40 years; and a member of Liberty Church, Bingham, IL. Darrell loved tinkering in the garage, gardening and was an avid hunter & fisherman.

He is survived by: Wife; Shirley, Ramsey, IL; Son - Mike Stokes & Susan, Decatur, IL; Daughters - Laurie Stokes & Joel Lessing, Forest Park, IL and Michelle Stokes, Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren - Christopher Gregory, Jacob Lessing, Johannah Stokes & Zachary and Zoey Cook; Brother - Dale Stokes & Karen, Malden, MO.; Sisters - Judy Sarver, Wilmington, IL & Joyce Friddle, Diamond, IL; Special Mom, Dorothy B. Largent; Special Brothers - Gerald and Steve Largent, Vandalia, IL.
