Darlene Viola Springsteen, 83, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2026, at her home peacefully in her own bed surrounded by her family.

Darlene was born on September 17, 1942 in Harvey, IL, the daughter of Wayne and Melvia Cravens. She married Kenneth Howard Springsteen Sr. on October 22, 1960 in Oak Forest, IL. She was a retired jeweler and tool and dye maker. Her top priority was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is survived by her 3 children, Terry (Bob) Bonk of Edwardsburg, MI, Kim Casiano of Vandalia, IL, and Kenneth (Jennifer) Springsteen Jr. of Vandalia, IL; 12 grandchildren, Melissa (Eric), Jason (Ashley), Brandon (Molly), Courtney, Tyler (Katie), Blake, Seth, and Ben; 10 great grandchildren, McKayla, Kaleb, Bella, Bria, Hayes, Gus, Shay, Isla, Sebastian, and Jett; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Jutta Springsteen, oldest and dearest friends, her soul sister, Patricia and husband, Marion Bone.
