Charles H. "Charlie" Zimmer, 86, of Vandalia, IL, died on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, IL. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 15, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL with Pastor Doug Wodtka officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL with Military Rite. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, (1 hr before the Service) June 15, 2012 at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL. Memorials: Donor's Choice. Charlie was born on April 16, 1926, in Vandalia, IL, the son of Charles Walter and Emma Lucille (Warren) Zimmer. He married Helen Burge, she passed away July 26, 1999. He later married Betty M. (Rine) Ritter on December 16, 2000 in Vandalia, IL. Charlie was a retired Supervisor for a Freight Company; affiliated with Overcup Baptist Church, Rural Vandalia, IL; a member of V.F.W., Effingham, IL and a World War II Navy Veteran. He is survived by Wife: Betty Zimmer of Vandalia, IL; Sons: Charles F. Zimmer & Terry, Coats, NC, William T. Zimmer & Yolanda, Benton, KY. 8 Grandchildren and Several Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by Parents, 1st Wife, 1Son, Harold L. Zimmer & 1 Infant Sister.
