Cara L. Kelly, 77, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, September 01, 2015, at Vandalia, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 04, 2015, at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church, Vandalia, IL with Rev. Father Barry Harmon, officiating. Burial will follow at Mother of Dolors Catholic Cemetery, Vandalia, IL, with Military Rites. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 03, 2015, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, with Prayer Service @ 5:30 P.M. Memorials: Fayette County Health Department and/or Fayco Enterprises, both of Vandalia, IL.
She was born March 26, 1938, in Portland, ME, the daughter of Squire "Scott" & Audrey Louise (Lamb) Taylor Jr. Married James Patrick "Pat" Kelly, Oct 19, 1963, Scott Air Force Base, IL. Cara was a Register Nurse, graduating from Johns Hopkins University, a 1st. Lieutenant serving in the U.S. Air Force 1960-1963 and former Administrator of Fayette County Health Dept. for 21 years - instrumental in establishing the Home Health Services. She was a member of Mother of Dolors Catholic Church - including Altar Society and Catholic Daughters; Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; Bridge Clubs; Crawford Hale Post 95 American Legion; and Fayco Board Member.
Cara is survived by: Husband - Pat Kelly, Vandalia, IL; Son - Jon Kelly & Lynn, Bartlett, IL; Daughters - Crystal Meyer & Scott, Livermore, CA, Maria Hawkins & Russell, Wentzville, MO, & Jennie Kelly & Dana, St. Peters, MO; Sisters - Kitty Kelley & Jamie, Newnan, GA, Colby Stephenson, Herriman, UT, & Pamela Rogal, Boston, MA; Grandchildren - Addie, Shannon, Morgan, Elizabeth, Bridgette, Rebekah, Sydney, Mary Grace and Matthew.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Sister - Cadace Evans.
