Betty I. Gudgel, 91, of Vandalia, Illinois, formerly of Hull, IL, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017, in Vandalia, IL.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Aker Chapel Cemetery, Rural Hull, IL. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aker Chapel Cemetery, Rural Hull, IL.

She was born September 24, 1925, in Hull, IL, the daughter of Harvey H. & Katherine H. (Pfrimmer) Lewton. Married Marvin L. Gudgel on November 27, 1943, Hannibal, MO, he passed away April 25, 2001. She was a member of Hull Methodist Church, Hull, IL; lifetime member of the Eastern Star and 600 Bowling Club. Betty was a retired Postmaster at Hull Post Office, Hull, IL and loved playing bridge and collecting antiques.

She is survived by: Daughters - Cheryl Niffen, Nauvoo, IL and Janice Jackson, Payson, IL; Grandchildren - Chad Jackson, Joseph Niffen and Andrea Massey; 10 Great Grandchildren; Sister - Martha Nestrick Sommer & Family, Vandalia, IL; and Several Nephews & Nieces.

Preceded in death by: Parents; Husband; Grandson - Robert Niffen Jr.; Brother in-Law and Sister in-Law, Maurice & June Gudgel and Brother-in-law - Harold Nestrick.
