Bernard E. Hall, 90, of Ramsey, IL, died on Tuesday, February 03, 2015, at Ramsey, IL. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 06, 2015, at Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey, IL, with Pastor Jim Wright, officiating. Burial will follow at Bolt Cemetery, in Rural Ramsey, IL with Military Rites. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 05, 2015, at Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, IL. Memorials: Anderson-Scroggins Post 460, American Legion, Ramsey, IL. He was born on August 02, 1924, in Ramsey, IL, the Son of David H. and Cleda V. (Moutrey) Hall. He was a Farmer; former employee of VanTran Electric; member of VFW Post 3862, Vandalia, IL; and World War II Army Veteran. He joined the Army and served in WWII as an ambulance driver. His favorite story to tell was of his journey across Europe in the middle of the night with no lights to guide him or any fancy technology to help out. After his service he returned to Ramsey and worked at VanTran Elec. He was a simple man who loved the land and spent his years farming. He raised one daughter and 5 grandchildren and though at times he was stubborn, he was a loving, caring man who would do anything for his family. He is survived by: Grandchildren - Travis Shellenbarger & Megan, Ramsey, IL; Elissa Shellenbarger, Westfield, IL; Brandy Shellenbarger, Ramsey, IL; Melanie Tipsword & Tavis, Auburn, IL; and Michelle Jarrell & Casey, Florissant, MO; Sisters - Evelyn Laws, Sun Valley, NV; Pauline Trent, Crystal Lake, IL; and Betty Silvestri, Winchester, CA; and 8 Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by: Parents; 1 Daughter - Thelma Shellenbarger; & 1 Sister - Meryl Anderson.
